Lovely Hurling
Out with the home made band saw and the equally home made sanding belt. One template, a bit of craft sawing and sanding later and the finished product is good enough for Croke Park.

Owners waiting for the parade to start at the Stradbally steam rally last weekend.
Yes, I know, very heavy handed with the processing again. I’m going through another one of those stages of throwing sliders around aimlessly and not caring much about the end result. I’m sure it’ll probably culminate in bypassing lightroom altogether and uploading directly from the memory card. Possibly. Another from Dublin Zoo photowalk that took place last weekend in err, Dublin. Not too used to shooting things that move so didn’t cop that my ISO was set tragically low untilRead More
Thanks to all that turned up for the unexpectedly sunny outing to Dublin Zoo today. So sunny in fact that it appears I came away with a bit of sunburn. Really enjoyed my first time there but unfortunately I appear to have left my sharpness at home that morning. All the more reason to go back and take some more photos I guess!
Julie in her happy place, surrounded by ‘stuff’ to take photos of. Don’t ask me to explain it.
The barbed wire fence at the end of the world. Sheeps Head in West Cork.
Off to that castle again tomorrow so won’t be posting over the weekend. Looking out on a contrast ++ sea from the top of Goats Path in West Cork. Just before winding down the other side of the hill into Kilcrohane and onto the headland.
Almost, but not quite… Photowalkers doing their thing during the June get together in west Cork. This particular stop was Garinish Island, one stop after Gougane Barra but one before the impromptu ‘it’s too early to go drinking yet’ trip to Sheeps Head. One of the best photowalks yet, if only because this time I know the area I was traipsing around. Half way there now, only 6 photowalks to go!
Galway, by the water.
A very well loved tractor waiting to be put back into use near the pier at Doolin. Burren photowalk of course!
Took off to the Burren Perfumery on Sunday afternoon for some cake and a quick stroll around their (fairly compact) gardens. If you asked me to find the place again, I may struggle. Nice spot though.
Neither of these two were going to get much in the way of peace until the perfect angle was found. From the Airfield Farm photowalk.
The Airfield Farm Photowalk. Not all landscapes or flowers. Oh no. Speaking of photowalks, get yourself over to www.photowalk.ie and take a look at the details of the West Cork photowalk in June. Then sign up for it.
An after dinner trip out on the coast road to catch the sunset on the Burren photowalk. Lots more to come over the coming days (and even more when I develop the 2/3 rolls of film). Hope everyone that made the trip enjoyed the day.
You’ve already seen the ‘famous’ stairs of Charleville Castle. Here’s the other one. Taken during the visit last year.
Music to grow up with in the beds at Airfield farm. Brilliant photowalk today, loads of great people and the first photowalk I think I’ve ever been to that was an all-inclusive family event for many photobloggers that usually end up coming out on their own. Many thanks to the staff at Airfield for accommodating our large (40+) group today.
Perfectly positioned to trip any fisherman that’s recently landed their catch.
After promptly educating us, as he so often would, about why a certain place was called what it was, we strolled on down past Porchfield toward Newtown. The incredibly sad news came earlier this evening that Danny (of www.porchfield.com) passed away earlier today. A man of endless kindness and furious wit, he will be sadly missed by all who ever came into contact with him.
