Remembering finer days

February 9, 2012 Bronica ETRS, Film, Landscape, Wicklow

Until I actually produce some new images in 2012 (I haven’t picked up the camera at all this year yet), I’m not going to stray too far from safe ground. The safe ground is currently Velvia. Going back over the old images I should have blogged months and sometimes years ago, I found these images from Powerscourt in Wicklow that sat in Lightroom being tweaked and fiddled with every now and then. Velvia has always been, for me at least,Read More

New Moon

December 23, 2011 Canon 5D, Canon 70-200, Dublin, Landscape

Grabbed this on my way out the door to work yesterday morning. Had I actually thought about what I was doing, I’d have put the 70-200 on Julie’s 5D2 and not my own 5D. It all went a bit wonky in post processing. It’s a bit of an odd feeling, going from shooting a photo to processing, uploading and posting within a 48 hour period. Worse still, I was almost tempted to post it last night. I don’t know ifRead More

The Stores

The end of the Visit Dublin photowalk.

The Lakes

October 18, 2010 Canon 5D, Event, Landscape, Wicklow

Out and about again on the helicopter thanks to John Nugent at Newcastle Aerodrome. Much brighter and clearer up there this time, as you’ll find out over the coming days…

Loch Beinn

October 13, 2010 Canon 5D, Landscape, Scotland

One fine day in Scotland.

Two

Taken during the Visit Dublin photowalk a couple of weekends back. The start of the processing that needs to be done for this batch.

Going Up

Getting to the summit the easy way, inside a rather small gondola. In the distance, where we started in the car park. Not pictured, where we were going. A beautiful sunny but cold day and a fantastic view awaited us at the top. The more I look at all the Scotland photos in lightroom, the more I want to go back. Soon.. soon..

Heartbeat

July 30, 2010 Canon 24-70, Landscape, Scotland

i.e. what I’d go back over there in. I think I left my phone charger somewhere between Stirling and Fort William, I better go back over and spend 20 years looking for it.

Pegasus

January 29, 2010 Canon 50, Canon 5D

I dunno.. something different? This was lurking in my archives and I’m in a kind of ‘what can I do with this?’ mood. ‘Not much’ is the answer by the way.

Obeying the Rules

June 22, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Landscape

Fountainstown, sitting on the rocks at the beach one evening after going down to Cork for the weekend. Can’t help but think of the rule of thirds and how I’ve possibly not followed it’s teachings here. Meh, rules are made to be broken. Especially photography rules.

Comhairle Chontae Chorcaí

May 14, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork

Ready to save a life. Perpetually pooped on by passing gulls the size of Ford Fiestas. The old model. Marks the start of what is turning into an ever more treacherous stroll across the rocks from Fountainstown to Myrtleville. Makes it all the more enjoyable.

No Ferries Today

November 21, 2008 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Galway, Macro

Back to Inishmore for one. On a cycle around (part of) the island, we came across this dock area for fishing boats. Who can resist fishing nets and piles of worn rope? Not me anyway. Taken back in August. Seems like so much has happened since then. Well, so much has happened since then!

On The Fence

July 24, 2008 Canon 5D, Event, Landscape, Wexford

Sitting on the fence, enjoying the sunshine and sea air at Hook Head in Wexford.
