Remembering finer days

February 9, 2012 Bronica ETRS, Film, Landscape, Wicklow

Until I actually produce some new images in 2012 (I haven’t picked up the camera at all this year yet), I’m not going to stray too far from safe ground. The safe ground is currently Velvia. Going back over the old images I should have blogged months and sometimes years ago, I found these images from Powerscourt in Wicklow that sat in Lightroom being tweaked and fiddled with every now and then. Velvia has always been, for me at least,Read More

Colours of Autumn

December 13, 2011 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Macro, Wicklow

My first post in December and I’m back with a couple of photos and a large bag of excuses. I became the newest splitter at the end of November when I left my old job and started a new one. I think either I underestimated how busy I’d be or grossly overestimated the ‘settling in time’ I’d end up taking because it’s been crazy pretty much since I started. Sadly, updating the blog has been far from top priority althoughRead More

Table for Two

Another from the first roll in the A-1, this was killing a bit of time in the Powerscourt Center while Julie was oogling some fancy wool in the shop upstairs. “Mmmmm fancy wool” or something close to that was uttered several times. Also “worth every penny” and perhaps one more “mmmm fancy wool” for good measure.

Pegasus

January 29, 2010 Canon 50, Canon 5D

I dunno.. something different? This was lurking in my archives and I’m in a kind of ‘what can I do with this?’ mood. ‘Not much’ is the answer by the way.

Powerscourt

Powerscourt house, just off the N11 at Enniskerry in Wicklow. A nice spot for a Sunday (or Saturday in this case) stroll. Nice too are the sweet shops inside the house. Possibly nicest of all is when you get back to the car and get to munch on your purchases! Incidentally, we’re off to Holland for a few days so posting is going to be extra light. But expect lots of windmills n’ stuff on Tuesday or Wednesday!

P&O Lloyd

July 6, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Wicklow

Quite an old bus, imported from across the murky sea, lying idle in a yard at Powerscourt. Possibly something to do with the big “Set” sign that was pointing down a tree lined driveway. Wonder what they were filming there?

The Powerscourt Mixed Bees

October 1, 2008 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

A bee (possibly of the mixed variety) takes flight off some lavender (thanks) as the sun shone brilliantly for once. Proof that at least we had one weekend of sunshine this summer/autumn. Now, as we’re into Q4 expect dark evenings, wind, rain and all kindsa other marvellous goings on. Super.
