On Madison heading East

November 16, 2009 Diana, Event, Film, Landscape

What turned into a regular daily walk from the hotel on Madison to breakfast (also on Madison) then to the subway to get to any of our chosen uptown or downtown destinations.

Pet Sematary

November 15, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event

Mixed reports circulated on this spot for years. Appears to be closed now, possibly for the better. Better not to delve too deep into the details to save my more sensitive visitors. The old animals home on the quays in Cork.

Damn Posers!

November 11, 2009 Canon 5D, Event, People

Gemsbok in the American Museum of Natural History in New York City posing for a photo. No need to ask them to hold still in this case.

Sit this one out

Eoin standing the balcony overlooking the dancefloor at Kevs wedding. Carefully guarding his fresh pint of Murphys. In the background, a couple of those pesky bloody photographers. Flicking back through these reminds me that I still have to get the rest of Kev & Eithne’s wedding photos processed. It’ll happen before the end of the year, of that I’m sure!

I’m Here

November 6, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event

Cork is where the heart is… It’s also where we are for the weekend. Still posting photos from the photowalk in Cork some time ago. Don’t expect anything new until Monday night!

Ball of Weird

November 3, 2009 Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro, Sigma 150 Macro

Don’t know what else to call it. Maybe ‘Hairy Red Snakes’ or something similar. An odd plant at Airfield Farm in Dundrum.

Chelsea Hotel

November 2, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event

On arriving in the city and settling into the hotel (not this one though), what do you think the first thing we did was? Took a stroll around the streets in the direction of B&H of course…

Scarecrow

October 31, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Dublin

Couldn’t help but think of Jeepers Creepers when I saw this. Although, this is a distinctly more cuddly version. A bit bat-faced, but definitely not as scary. Bit slow on the uptake with the Halloween themed photo today, I blame the truly epic lie in. Now, I’m off to dig out my copy of “The Shining” for tonights entertainment. Enjoy your sweeties!

Redbrick Garage

October 29, 2009 Canon 5D

Just down the road from where we stayed in Bleskensgraaf back in July of this year. The place is a photobook waiting to happen…

Look Busy…

October 28, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Macro, Wicklow

Detail in a headstone caught while passing through the graveyard at Glendalough. So many headstones, so little time. I need to get back out to Glasnevin.

Off tae stockies

October 27, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Event, People, Scotland

The usual weekend pilgrimage to Cowdenbeath Racewall for some stock car racing. As if that wasn’t enough, just to prove this all took place in Scotland I submit for your attention the above photograph. As always, a wonderful place to spend a weekend. Scotland that is, not a race track. But that’s not bad either.

Around Blackrock

October 26, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event, Landscape

The opposite side to another shot posted previously. Looking back on Tivoli as we circle around to head back. It’s all gone a bit Cork this weekend. Hope anyone that traveled to get some jazz into them enjoyed it and similarly, I hope anyone that traveled to get away from the jazz enjoyed that. I suspect we’re just walking in the door back from the airport about now, having spent a lovely weekend in Scotland. God bless the person whoRead More

R&H Hall

October 25, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event

Lets call this ‘Part Two’ then shall we?

The R&H

October 24, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event

Kinda ‘Part One’ possibly, I’ve taken so many shots of this building but few ever see the light of day. Mostly because all you can see of it is a big, depressing, grey concrete slab. But then that kinda fits in with the docks…

Bike Parking

October 23, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event, Macro

Chained up to the railings outside the Odlums building on the docks. Possibly a bike, possibly something else entirely. Eh… Maybe a large, rabid turnip? Whatever it was and however rabid it was, it’s long gone now.

Brian’s Bridge

October 22, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event, Landscape, People

A fairly uninteresting shot of the Brian Boru bridge over the river Lee, taken from a corner of Michael Collins bridge. This is not Clontarf bridge, that’s on the other one that looks the same as this one. You’ll find that over near the city hall, where it’s been for a while now. Glad we cleared that up. Even though it’s not exactly the most awe inspiring shot, I still like it for some reason. But then, I am quiteRead More

Odlums

October 20, 2009 Canon 5D, Cork, Event

Time for one form the home town! Easily my favorite building on the docks in Cork. Rarely seen like this, there are normally truck trailers left outside the building or a large puddle of green ooze blocking any chance of getting near it. I’d give a left something to get inside there and take a few shots.

Indoor Park

October 18, 2009 Diana, Film

So yeah, long story short while we were in New York I cracked and bought a Diana. Then I bought 10 rolls of Velvia. I didn’t use all ten thankfully, but I did nearly get through half of it. Instead of shooting one roll, seeing how it came out (I was initially quite skeptical about the whole Diana thing) I decided to go hell for leather. Win. Developed them tonight and this one (and a few more) have jumped toRead More

Mono Blooms

Colourful flowers; Psh, there’s plenty of time for that later on. First time out with the macro lens in quite a while. Headed down to Airfield in Dundrum. Quite a nice spot. Lovely cake ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello down there!

Julie, having deposited her 50ยข into the curiously designed binocular coin box, proceeded to spy on the unsuspecting inhabitants of New York City. The crafty devil…
