A view of Wicklow head I’ve never had before. A massive thanks to Mike at Wicklow.TV and John Nugent at Newcastle Aerodrome for the new slant on photowalking.
The Cork photowalk. West Cork. Sheeps head to be exact. When people say ‘go to your happy place’ this is at the top of an ever lengthening list.
When a man’s an empty kettle
He should be on his mettle
And yet I’m torn apart
Just because I’m presumin’
That I could be kind of human
If I only had a heart…
Hook Head, sunshine. First trip there and last of the sunshine. Almost. I wanted to go to Hook Head for years but never quite made it. As with many things, the wait made the experience of finally getting there all the better. Will definitely be back there. Ahh Hook Head, I’ve got you under my skin.
Walking to the lighthouse at Sheeps Head in West Cork. Stick to the path, you’ll finally get there. Or, stray from the beaten path and find something more exciting. Or maybe you’ll just end up stepping in sheep shit. Sometimes you just have to take the risks to get the rewards.
For the longest time (after years of visiting Sheeps Head) I never knew the funkiest little lighthouse on the planet was sitting right on the end of the headland, holding onto the cliff edge. That’s thanks in no small part to John, who posted a fantastic image of the building that today inspired me to get off my lazy ass, leave the car park and walk to the end of the world. It also helped that is visiting for the long weekend so I’m seeing much of the same old scenery with fresh eyes. But alas, it’s back to work tomorrow.
