Sun Shines Through
Walking around in the dense yet perfectly ordered forest at Glendalough in Wicklow. The forest is not unlike something you’d see in a film. Possibly something with hobbitses or the likes.

Like flowers, we grow and change. Guess all you can really ask for is to be looked after by someone with caring hands up until the dog digs you up or you become food for whatever beasts inhabit the area around where you’re rooted. Am I talking shit yet?
An abandoned Ferris wheel at the fairground in Tramore, Waterford. Going around and around with nobody on board, nobody enjoying the ride. Could hardly blame them, it was cold, rainy day. Personally I’d be more of a fair weather customer, but I guess if you’re prepared for whatever the weather may throw at you, it doesn’t really matter either way.
Watch that last step, it’ll getcha every time…
Old machinery, left unused in a quiet spot in Dunmore East, Waterford. Buttons seized from lack of manipulation. Maybe someone lost the manual? Even old machinery, when operated by the right person, can still do marvellous things (don’t ya know!)
Get comfortable. Don’t worry, the train will be here soon. Best viewed dark. Very very dark.
Shuffling off your mortal coil. Moving from this life into somewhere (hopefully) more pleasant. I am an Ex-Parrot! Peace and quiet for ever-more, if you disregard the thousands of tourists, at Glendalough in Wicklow.
Golden hour on the beach at Rocky Bay. A slightly less suggestive version of a later photo involving an L lens and a cunning piece of positioning. Oooh err missus.
An old shed in a field next to the graveyard in Glendalough. I can only presume (having watched so many horror films down through the years) that this is where the local psycho slasher type person does all his dismembering and storing of his collection of corpses.. Mwah ha haaaaa… A lovely peaceful spot. Other than the horror and all…
…upside down, so the world can kiss my ass! In fact, don’t bury me at all. Incinerate me with next weeks recycling and scatter my ashes wherever you want. A graveyard on the edge of the hill at Glendalough. A lovely spot in the middle of Wicklow that is, for several months of the year, infested with tourists. One of which I am quite obviously not. Obviously.
First trip out to see the bluebells in Currabinny woods. It was getting late and the light was beginning to drop off fairly rapidly so we didn’t spend long down there. Must take a spin back down there over the coming days to catch some more. Speaking of taking a spin, I was quite looking forward to heading to Dublin this evening/tomorrow morning for the rare meetup of photobloggers that’s taking place. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I’m at a weddingRead More
Down in Currabinny, about 10 minutes from my front door, there’s a wonderful pier that stretches out in the direction of Crosshaven across the water. Crosshaven may sound familiar to some as the host town for the Ford Yacht Club event. Currabinny may sound familiar as the place across the water from it. There’s a nice stony beach and a wonderful storehouse down there too. Never fails to offer some kind of photographic opportunities.
Footprints in the sand at Rocky Bay in Cork. Either very soft sand or very heavy shoe wearer. Perhaps the former.
Walking into St. Carthage’s in Lismore, Waterford. The cathedral, which dates back to the 17th century, is under a lot of restoration and renovation work inside but that in no way detracts from the splendidly cavernous experience you get once you walk in. It sits on well kept grounds in a very peaceful area of Lismore town. Well worth a visit.
Last time we walked through Knockomagh Wood to the top of the hill at Lough Ine in west Cork, it was so cloudy we could barely see the sea. A bit different to the previous walk up there when it was so clear we could see all the way out to Cape Clear beyond Baltimore and Sherkin Island. This rope swing hangs over a very muddy puddle, dotted with small footprints and the odd assprint. The woods trail up toRead More
Another of my frequent trips to rural graveyards. This one, just outside Midleton on the road to Castlemartyr in east Cork is tucked away at the side of the road next to an infamous biker pub. It’s a small graveyard with a mix of old and new plots. Photogenic old stones leaning over and loads of decorative iron crosses dotted about the stone wall lined cemetery. Is my ever growing tendency to photograph graves a bit too much on theRead More
