Mono Blooms
Colourful flowers; Psh, there’s plenty of time for that later on. First time out with the macro lens in quite a while. Headed down to Airfield in Dundrum. Quite a nice spot. Lovely cake ๐
Mostly black & white. Perhaps less so since I began including more than one photo per post. Dig in, you’ll find the black & white photo in there somewhere.

Julie, having deposited her 50ยข into the curiously designed binocular coin box, proceeded to spy on the unsuspecting inhabitants of New York City. The crafty devil…
Thanks are once again due to the hard working bar staff at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel. Very helpful, friendly bunch of people who kept the beer fuelled mayhem progressing nicely all night long at the web awards last weekend. Looking at a photo taken in the same spot last year, I realise two things. One, the Guinness was significantly better this year (or maybe I\’m just getting used to it) and two, I’m nearly a year living in Dublin.Read More
As if your life depended on it. Speeding down the home straight toward the finish line at Mondello Park. It’s been quite a while since I did a lap of Mondello on my own bike. But then again, that was a barge compared to what these guys were on. Well, that was a barge compared to a Ford Fiesta.
Looking back through some of the film I’ve actually managed to scan, I can’t understand why I’ve blogged so little of the Burren. This is Poulnabrone Dolmen, a popular spot for the tourists…
Mattie Griffin doing his stuff in the pouring rain at Japfest in Mondello park at the start of September. The weather didn’t stop him from putting on an amazing show, performing stunts that other (possibly sane) people wouldn’t attempt on a bone dry road. More from Japfest in the coming days.
September 2005. This one seems to get rolled out quite often. But why not, I like it! Taken back when I was still very much learning to use my then still new baby, a 20D. Also, Inchidoney is still as excellent as ever.
Dordrecht, side streets leading to the river. Someone likes model ships. Suppose Holland is the country to live in if you’re a fan of the water.
About a year ago, a crowd went to Charleville castle in Tullamore. Most (or all) of them spent a great deal of time right here, on these stairs. No doubt it’ll be the same this year. Or, this weekend to be more precise. This time I’m going armed with a lot of black & white film…
Just down the road from Bleskensgraaf, where we spent our first few nights. Kinderdijk appears to be the place to go in Holland to see windmills. At least that’s what the car park full of coach tours, campers and cars with foreign registrations suggested. Makes a definite change from what we’d seen up till then, one or two windmills dotted around the landscape.
Recently, it seems like every time I come home there’s a new skirt or handbag, a modification to an existing item of clothing or grand plans drawn up to create something new. It must be great to be creative.
Some of the many, many, many many many bikes littered around the grounds of Trinity College. Some appear in active use while others… well, not so much.
Taken for my sofobomo project, this is in The Burren in Co. Clare. During our weekend on the west coast, I spent a bit of time searching for the right wall, with the right patch of grass beneath it and the right patch of clouds behind it. I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out.
So I’ve not been around here in the last few days. Updating has gotten rather slack and I blame at least 67% of that on trying to get my SoFoBoMo ’09 book done on time. Time which runs out tomorrow. Thankfully, that’s no longer an issue. My PDF is all built & uploaded, a whole day ahead of schedule. Miracle! Now I can (have to) get back to regularly updating here. The backlog of photos I have to process (andRead More
I don’t put a lot of thought into things sometimes. Planning ahead with any great certainty or in any massively well thought out way isn’t my bag baby. That might explain why I forgot my keys when I went down to the car park before work one morning… And locked myself in only to be rescued by an unwitting neighbour some 15 minutes later.
James’ street, just before it turns into Thomas street. What in previous years would have been your last chance to buy flowers of sweets for a friend or relative in St. James Hospital up the road. Nowadays, you can choose from any one of 45,000 spar or Centra shops in the immediate area.
I’m tempted to say “St. Kevins” in Donadea. But I don’t actually know. Saint something or others. An eerie feeling accompanies this shot. The thought that while peering through the lens at the scene a face from inside the glass would pop out and stare back. I braved it out and took the shot anyway. And yes, I watch too much TV.
Finally reached the older section of Glasnevin graveyard and just the right time to have borrowed Al’s Hasselblad to run a roll of neopan through.
Shandon, as pictured previously houses a wonderful set of bells. Not so wonderful when you’re next to them as they’re being rung. This is where they live. In a maze of old wooden beams, iron braces and plenty of nuts & bolts.
Howth beach. A grand day out while the sun shines. Tides out so plenty of beach to play on. But don’t walk on those ripples of sand for too long in your bare feet or they’ll start to hurt. Or.. at least that’s my experience. Although I don’t think I ever successfully flew a kite. Deprived childhood don’t ya know.
