Chainlink

Nasty great big fence surrounding a lovely crumbling building. On the other hand…

Growth

February 5, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork, Macro

Taken a lifetime ago, this vibrant blue moss grows from time to time on the half dead trees at the Gearagh, just outside Macroom in west Cork. To the best of my knowledge, the Gearagh is a man made lake, created by the construction of the hydroelectric dam further down the river Lee, just outside Cork city. I am open to correction though!

In The Wild

February 4, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Landscape, Wexford

A sometimes violent blustery wind blowing through the crops in a field a few hundred yards from Hook Head lighthouse in Wexford.

Chubb

February 3, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Macro, Wicklow

Under lock and key at Kilmacurragh in Wicklow. So much more interesting than your average padlock!

The Stables

February 2, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event

The decaying stables at Charleville Castle in Tullamore Co. Offaly. Taken during the now annual boards.ie meetup in 2008

Treelined

Another from Kilmacurragh, that previously hidden spot in Wicklow.

Feathers Flying

January 30, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

There must have been a bird through here at some stage… Or at least part of one.

Or, if you prefer, looking down from above.

Life Saver

January 28, 2009 Canon 30D, Sigma 30, Wicklow

Falling into the pond at Kilmacurragh arboretum would be a bad idea. Not so much because you’d possibly drown, but because you might damage the stuff they’re trying to grow in there. Careful now!

Renew

January 27, 2009 Canon 30D, Dublin, Sigma 30

A stroll around the city centre after a prolonged spot of rain…

Somewhere Arboreal

I re-discovered a love of my Sigma 30 f1.4 over the weekend at Kilmacurragh arboretum. Found the place on discover Ireland website and took a spin down. It\’ll be worth another trip when things start to bloom.

Trinity

January 25, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin, Event

One of the many photogenic spots in Trinity college grounds in Dublin city. Taken while strolling around with some fellow photobloggers.

Stephens Monoliths

January 23, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin

A big mad stony fence of a thing separating one corner of Stephen’s Green from the outside world. Especially ridgey and utterly fantastic. Dear God I need coffee…

Scrub Up

January 22, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Scotland

On board the Royal Yacht Britannia while partaking on a bus tour around Edinburgh. Not among some of the finer details on the immense ship, but certainly the most photogenic… (my kinda photogenic anyway!)

WWMD?!?

Taken in some pub off Stephens Green at a ‘photoblogger meetup’ just before the blog awards last year. It’s that time of year again, the time for blog award nomination lists to be announced, for people the length of Ireland to start sprucing up their blogs of all kinds and getting ready for the big night out in Cork next month. More importantly, it’s the time of year when we all ask ourselves, WWMD?

A Walk in Avondale

January 20, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, People, Wicklow

Taking a walk in Avondale forest/park/forest park in Wicklow. Appears we weren’t the only ones that came out to see the mountains of fallen leaves.

The Ents

Trees, like some you’d see in a horror film, standing in the grounds of the Botanic Gardens in Dublin. I feel that before too long, I’ll become an authority on all things botanic and gardeny. Not a bad thing perhaps?

Like Rick, But With No Banter

Getting into the act a bit late but nevertheless… For those of you that still don’t know, RTE has taken the curious decision of a screwing with the format of three slots, Rick’s, Nikki Hayes and Will Leahy. As someone who’s both listened to these shows for a while and actually had the pleasure of being in the studio during a show, I can’t begin to understand how RTE thought this was a good idea. There is already a lotRead More

A Walk By The Sea

January 14, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, People, Wicklow

Following forests gardens and I can’t remember what else, I needed to get back to the beach. Fully intend on visiting one specific beach on travelling back down to Cork for the Blog Awards next month. Mmmmmmm beach rubbish….

Dart to the Sea

January 13, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Macro, Wicklow

Getting the dart down to the seaside, a summertime institution. It’s a little colder and a little greyer now at this seaside at least, but there are still people on the trains as proved by this discarded ticket. The 5D is off to hospital in the UK. I only had it a couple of months when I dropped it during a walk around a forest early last year. Since then, the battery grip had become looser up to the pointRead More
