The Bloggies

March 29, 2010 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event, Galway

Back from the blog awards in Galway on Saturday. Well, actually got back yesterday afternoon but ended up sleeping for the rest of the day. Once again an epic session organised superbly well by Damien and his regular band of helpers, assistants and whatever you’re having yourself. Roll on IBA2011 I guess?

Chelsea Hotel

November 2, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event

On arriving in the city and settling into the hotel (not this one though), what do you think the first thing we did was? Took a stroll around the streets in the direction of B&H of course…

Sunville

September 30, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork, Event, People

On Summerhill north during the Cork Photowalk, put together by Damien, Pat and Donncha. Huge thanks to all three, very successful event as usual. I can only assume this lady was charging up the hill in training for the ladies mini marathon that took place the next day in the city.

Here be Dragons

September 28, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Wicklow

An overdue visit to Avondale a couple of weeks ago. Everything is starting to turn various shades of brown and gold, much to Julie’s delight. Almost time for a drive back down the Sally Gap with some velvia and the wide lens.

On Another Day

September 23, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event, Landscape

Do any of my visitors watch Rescue Me? It’s been one of my favorite things on TV since it started so it was a bit of a buzz to stand here (this scene is used in the opening credits). It was more about simply standing there than recording it artistically in a photograph…

Phoenix

August 19, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event

Reading a little bit too much into that very entertaining bonfire on the grounds of Charleville castle during the meetup a couple of weeks ago.

The Elf in the Windmill

August 13, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event, People

In Kinderdijk, in a windmill, looking out a window at… another windmill. Or two. Here she is, no doubt making that ‘photo taking’ face. Concentration I tells ya!

Sytner Mini

July 19, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin, Event

Near ‘no photograhers land’ at the back of Connolly station during the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. A lovely red freshly rained on mini.

Boating on the Lakes

Possibly one of the most fantastic places in the world* is the ring of Kerry. I love the place. I had a habit of going down there every other weekend when I lived in Cork so taking trip down a couple of months back to drive around there for a few days was a plan brilliant in it’s simplicity. Or err, something like that. (*given that I haven’t seen a lot of the world…yet)

Flames for the Departed

April 4, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork, Macro

Candles lit in the incredibly small church at Gougane Barra in west Cork. One of my best friends is getting married here later this year and I’m led to wonder if this is the most exclusively difficult place to book for your wedding in all of Cork? Given that the seating capacity is no more than 20 or 30 people, I imagine it’s in the top 5 anyway.

On the way

March 30, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork, Landscape

On the way down to Gougane Barra last month. On my many, many trips down there I always wanted to stop at this lake but there was always loads of people around. Me? Anti-social?!?

Lone Star

March 25, 2009 Canon 24-70, Macro, Wicklow

Single daffodil, seperated from the group. Living in Mount Usher gardens in Wicklow. Nice spot. Very shaky bridges. Delightful stuff.

Sandcastle Factory

Old, broken, left behind. Part of a child’s toy discarded on the beach. Making sandcastles out of rocks does that to plastic toys.

Tetris

On Dame street, Dublin. Looking out from the city hall, across a courtyard that looks like tetris to a building that looks like tetris. At least they stuck with the theme I suppose.

Howya Donkey!

February 27, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork

Looking for a specific donkey at the sanctuary in Liscarroll in north Cork. Turned out she was a huffy cow.. err, donkey. In other, very unrelated news, pixie have finalised an amazing package for bloggers, photobloggers and pixie users for the St. Patricks day festival in Dublin. Details on the pixie blog. Big thanks due to the Guinness Storehouse and Canon. Roll on the fun!

Shandon

February 26, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork, Event

My first ever trip up to the top of the Shandon bells! Err, and I’ve lived in Cork for how long exactly? Don’t feel too bad though, it was Donncha’s first time up there too. We were both in awe. Deaf awe. Those bells are damn loud. Especially when there\’s a little kid mercilessly pulling on the ropes several floors down.

Reach For The Sky!

February 21, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork

Tattered and torn bull-rushes swaying in the breeze. Wait, there was no breeze. Swaying for effect then. Either way, they’re in the Gearagh in west Cork and I sank a few inches into the murky depths while taking this photo. Those shoes were later finally executed on a very cold holiday in Canada. Damn good shoes.. damn good.

Tin Man

February 19, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Cork, Macro

When a man’s an empty kettle He should be on his mettle And yet I’m torn apart Just because I’m presumin’ That I could be kind of human If I only had a heart…

Up The Walls

February 18, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

Climbing the walls before the blog awards in Dublin last year. Then, not so much. Mmmm, pints.

All Terrain

February 17, 2009 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Event

Lonesome tyre, went off-road all by itself. No driver to guide it, it quickly lost it’s bearings and could not find it’s way out of the forest. Approach with caution, it’s off it’s rim…
