The Proving Grounds

January 30, 2012 Black and White, Dublin, Macro, People, X100

IMMA has become more or less that; A place to bring new or recently dusted off camera gear for a stroll around the grounds. No cat photos and not a focus chart in sight. Just a few from this visit before I drag and drop the set into the abyss that is the 2011 archive.

Flowers Made Easy

The Flowers Made Easy photowalk yesterday in Dublin went off without a hitch, thanks to all the folks at Flowers Made Easy and those at photowalk.ie that made the trip possible. To sum it up in as few words as possible, it was like a trip to the Botanic Gardens but without all the required walking. Also, as you may have been tipped off by the photo above, Fran was knocking about with some foam props. There was also anRead More

Botanics

September 19, 2010 Canon 5D, Dublin, Event, Sigma 150 Macro

From the second Botanic Gardens photowalk that took place earlier today. Weather was quite a bit milder than the previous walk. The macro lens that I haven\’t used in what seems to be about 2 years came out to play again.

Fields of Flowers

September 4, 2010 Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

Getting ready for the Botanic Gardens photowalk later this month. It’ll be a bit different than the January walk. A few less inches of ice and snow for starters.

Of sunny days and foreign jaunts

A gorgeous day for photographs (of ditches) somewhere between Bleskensgraaf and Streefkerk. There was a windmill there, if that helps you locate it.

Blooms

April 27, 2010 Canon 5D, Dublin, Event, Macro

Airfield, at the beginning of the walk. Managed to get this before being run out of the way by a troop of girl guides or brownies or whatever they were. Nothing special about it, I just liked the colours.

Pushing Daisies

December 6, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

Daisies, getting on a bit. This was only a couple of short months ago. Back then, Christmas seemed like an eternity away. I didn’t let things like buying presents for loved ones concern me. Err, I really need to get started on that.

Mono Blooms

Colourful flowers; Psh, there’s plenty of time for that later on. First time out with the macro lens in quite a while. Headed down to Airfield in Dundrum. Quite a nice spot. Lovely cake 😉

Table Dressing

May 24, 2009 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Macro

Everything around the shop in Donadea park seems very well presented. Or at least as well presented as you can get when in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere. Flowers all over, including on the picnic tables.

Freshness in a Cup

May 18, 2009 Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

A cup of something fresh at Donadea. Although, I wouldn’t try drinking it. Unless it was a bet. Or I was already drunk. Best not go too far down that road right now.

Botanic Brown

October 9, 2008 Dublin, Event, Macro, Sigma 150 Macro

Natural (as in not squirted or dropped by one in our company) water drops on a plant at the botanic gardens in Dublin. First time in a long time that I’ve used my macro lens. A refreshing change.

Botanics

An enjoyable afternoon spent at the Botanic Gardens in Dublin. Simon made the mistake of ‘loaning’ me his Canon 24mm f3.5L tilt shift lens. I very much doubt he’ll be getting it back. It’s my first attempt at anything tilty, having become an expert in all things slightly shifty some years ago. It’s a new experience… But then, lots of things are proving to be new experiences these days. Hmmm..

The Powerscourt Mixed Bees

October 1, 2008 Canon 24-70, Canon 5D, Dublin, Macro

A bee (possibly of the mixed variety) takes flight off some lavender (thanks) as the sun shone brilliantly for once. Proof that at least we had one weekend of sunshine this summer/autumn. Now, as we’re into Q4 expect dark evenings, wind, rain and all kindsa other marvellous goings on. Super.

Grow

July 22, 2008 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Cork, Macro

Like flowers, we grow and change. Guess all you can really ask for is to be looked after by someone with caring hands up until the dog digs you up or you become food for whatever beasts inhabit the area around where you’re rooted. Am I talking shit yet?

Bluebells

May 16, 2008 Canon 50, Canon 5D, Cork, Landscape

First trip out to see the bluebells in Currabinny woods. It was getting late and the light was beginning to drop off fairly rapidly so we didn’t spend long down there. Must take a spin back down there over the coming days to catch some more. Speaking of taking a spin, I was quite looking forward to heading to Dublin this evening/tomorrow morning for the rare meetup of photobloggers that’s taking place. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I’m at a weddingRead More
